Where it's most needed the cycleway ends - Weston-super-Mare Motor convenience is given absolute priority. No intention here to make cycling attractive or safe.
Tip: don't start from here! This is a 'cycle facility' to nowhere. Stay on the road and share with other traffic and you can get to the other side by following lane discipline and the highway code.
The 'Avon Cycleway' crosses the A38. From the left cyclists are signed to cross the road tha t they are leaving (where the red car is disappearing in this picture), carry their bikes over the bridge, then proceed on the narrow pavement (right) opposing the traffic, and end up in a narrow part of the wrong side of the road just before a bend with poor visibility.
Tip: This is a hazardous junction. I prefer to keep with the other traffic. This a prime example of North Somerset's disinterest in road safety and dismissive attitude towards cycle transport.
A shared use cycleway (a disused railway) crosses a main road. From left of the photo, along a pavement with barrier then a user-controlled traffic signal to halt all the motor traffic.

Cycling link from Long Ashton onto busy A370.
Tip: Take great care. I prefer to get off my bike and run with it when there is a gap. Another example of North Somerset's anti-cycling stance.
Mandatory cycle lane, user-controlled signals. This is in the town; in open country the same method is used.
