training children

Children on a mini tandem during cycle training

You can help train 10 and 11 year olds to cycle on the roads.
The scheme is run by North Somerset Council’s road safety officer Liz Mapstone.
You will be trained to teach children at a school near you. The courses start in the playground, then move to quiet roads. After on-job tuition by Liz over one course you will move on to training the children with other volunteers.

The children are provided by the school - you just turn up. The courses are run to Royal Society of Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA) guidelines.
Insurance and paperwork is covered by North Somerset Council.
The time can be flexible to suit your availability.
